Pool Table Maintenance Critical Point, Use a Pool Table Cover
Keep Your pool table covered!
Make sure your table is covered whenever you are not playing. This will protect your cloth from sunlight, dust, spills, pets, kids etc. Sunlight is the worst, especially a bright room, constantly bleaching the cloth.
Light’s Effect on Your Table:
Your table should be covered whenever it is not in use. This helps keep your table free from dust and gives it protection against accidental damage and fading of the cloth color.
OK, Your billiard table won’t “melt away” when it’s exposed to light, like the wicked witch of the west getting wet… but constant exposure to sunlight will be extremely damaging over time. Sunlight will sun bleach the cloth, and even the table’s wood finish. When deciding the location of your billiard table, keep it out of sunrooms, away from our large windows, and nowhere near a fireplace.
If you prefer natural lighting and simply must play near an open window, you will at least need to remember to always keep your billiard table covered with a high quality cover, immediately after you’re finished. Don’t “leave it for later”… The more often you cover your table, the longer it’s life expectancy.
